About Basstrail
Basstrail was founded in 1999 by Eric Nelson, a competitive bass angler since 1997 and web designer since around the same time, who saw an opportunity to improve the management of his bass fishing club Cape Cod Bass by providing semi-automated web based tools. The tools covered everything from managing club news to the automation of angler points, eliminating the need for spreadsheets and scratch pads full of notes to convert to a format to print out for the anglers at each meeting. The site is still running with some technical updates over the years.
Life came into play, and setting time aside for building the business was put on hold. That is, until now. Back into competitive angling in a new format, kayak bass fishing, it has again lit the fire for working within the fishing industry using his years of technical and design experience. When looking into this new version of the sport there was a major hole that needed to be filled and that was national coverage of not only the available trails, but the anglers as well. Although social media has played a big role in the fishing community the longer lasting format for name recognition is still independent media.
The drive in the sport has always been to grow it and build bigger and better events. With growth continuing to build momentum there is an opportunity and need to elevate the sport and Basstrail is committed to do just that with honest and straight forward journalism to highlight the anglers and leaders across the entire competitive kayak bass fishing industry.
