Bailey Eigbrett wins Hobie BOS at Eufaula
Hobie BOS headed to Lake Eufaula in Alabama for their 3rd event of 2022. With earlier events at max capacity, Eufaula was also close to the cap with 177 anglers battling over 2 days for the $10,500 first place pot! The weather leading up to the event was descent and anglers had reported great practice results prior to heading into Day 1 on Saturday.
A challenging day for many anglers to start the event, including 62 of which never submitted a fish and only 31 were able to post a 5 bass limit. As always some anglers will find a bite and at the conclusion of Day 1, Brady Storrs out of Nebraska had the lead with with a solid 89 inches. Alabama’s Nick Dyer held the 2nd spot tied with Bailey Eigbrett with 86.25”. Another Alabama local and known hammer Garett Wade was in 8th place with 81.5 inches.
Day 2 had the typical big names with no fish uploaded yet which always causes some curiosity. Where they struggling? Out of cell range? Or the dreaded “sandbagging” allegations that keep the other competitors who watch the leaderboard guessing. At the end of the day Tennessee’s Josh Stewart was on top for the days total with 92”, which was enough to push him into 3rd place overall with a total of 165 inches and a check for $3,200. After struggling on day 1 with only 72.5 inches, Stewart was able to complete another great Hobie BOS comeback further cementing the value of 2 day events. 2nd place was grabbed by Ron Champion of Georgia with 167.75 inches total winning an impressive $5,500.
The winner however was Bailey Eigbrett hailing out of New York who was able to keep consistent over the 2 days adding an additional 85.75 inches bringing his total to 172 inches earning him $10,500!
The next stop for Hobie BOS will be at Broken Bow Lake in Broken Bow, Oklahoma on May 14, 2022.
