Calvin Dee wins the Hobie BOS’ Fox and Wolf Rivers event

Calvin Dee takes a big check home at his first Hobie BOS event in a dominating win at the Fox and Wolf Rivers event holding off Kristine Fischer and Guillermo Gonzales

Hobie BOS kicked off the 8th event of the season at the Fox and Wolf Rivers in Appleton, Wisconsin over the weekend with 89 anglers ready to battle for a payday, needed points and spot in the Tournament of Champions. Day 1 was showed a commanding top 5 with anglers putting up a 90 inch average with Illinois angler Calvin Dee in the lead with 91.75 inches followed closely but known sticks in the kayak world Drew Gregory who has had an amazing 2022 season as well as Kristine Fischer who just made it back to the states from the Hobie Worlds in Sweden where she had a solid 5th place finish. Richie McMichael from Kansas held the 4th place spot and Wisconsin angler Tu Lee in 5th place. 2021 Kayak Bass Fishing National Champion Guillermo Gonzalez was off pace behind the pack over 8 inches behind the leader.

Day 2 of the event, Gonzalez put together a solid limit of 89.75 inches of healthy football shaped bronzebacks to shoot him up the leaderboard with Kristine Fischer having another solid day with 88.75 inches. Lee and Gregory limit up but couldn't get the bigger fish on the board to hold their spots in the top of the field. Ryan Reardon of Pennsylvania and  Rus Snyders of Tennessee were able to put together a good limit of 87.75 inches and  86.75 inches pushing them up into the top 5. However Gonzalez would take the 3rd place spot with 173 inched and a check for $1,950. Kristine Fischer would take 2nd place with 179.25 inches. However with another commanding day with 91.75 inches Calvin Dee would take the win with 183.5 inches.

The points implications for the event push Kristine Fischer up into the mix and Rus Snyder will also jump up the list quite a bit with his solid finish. With one more stop for anglers to battle at Lake Dardanelle on September 17th anglers will need to put in their best performances to stay in contention with the final head to head points battle at the Tournament of Champions to decide who takes home the Angler of the Year title!
