Lowrence to release “A new fishing perspective”
Lowrence setting the stage for a December 1, 2022 product announcement
On Tuesday, November 15, 2022 Lowrance released a teaser video (below) showing a blacked out sonar unit with a ominous blue glow behind it teasing the Lowrance users about a big announcement coming on December 1, 2022 that will be "A new fishing perspective".
Rumors have been out there already about Active Target 2 and HDS Pro coming to the market, but anglers have been asking for improvements in the Active Target technology since its initial release. With the Garmin Live Scope being out years ahead of the versions from Hummingbird and Lowrance it is on them to catch up, and do it quick. Technology advancements are hard and expensive to keep up with so many Lowrence die hards have been holding out for the next generation of Active Target with hopes of more compatibility and better imaging.
Like with all tech updates people have their skepticism radars on high feeling that most updates and upgrades are poor returns on investment and in some cases that is true. However these companies throw loads of time and money into improving the tech and they do need to keep the lights on. Whichever may be the case with the potential announcement(s), anglers will have to make the decision on whether to scrap their fairly new 12" HDS Live units for new tech. Folks looking at the current HDS Live units will have make a decision to grab up discounted units with the old tech or to pay whatever the price will be for the latest and greatest "game changer" technology.
Currently you can see some Black Friday deals on the HDS Live at Bass Pro Shops which is generally a sign that bass fishing retail giant needs to make room for new stock. Current prices advertised will be $899 for HDS Live 9 with Active Target and $1899 for the 12" version which is $1,300-$1,550 below current MSRP and the Active Target system itself $400 under MSRP at $1,249 assuming you want to camp out and get them before they are gone. Good luck!
