Who’s leading the 2023 Angler of the Year races?

We're sitting in the heat of summer with kayak bass fishing anglers across the country getting tired, running out of vacation time and money... and where has it gotten us? Arguably the most exciting time of the year is the kick off when we are all fresh and confident for our runs at titles and championship trophies. The second most exciting part of the year where the anglers make their final push for championship qualifications and angler of the year titles! Let's take a look at who is leading and what's coming up in the crazy world of competitive kayak fishing and what is coming up this Fall!

Kayak Bass Fishing (KBF)

In 2023 KBF set the schedule for an earlier end in the regular national trail in June, and when all the dust settled we have Rachel Uribe from the West Coast in the lead for Angler of the Year! A very exciting prospect for KBF to potentially have their first woman Angler of the Year which would be an interesting and historic moment for the fishing community. The Trail Championship will be the deciding factor when all the anglers from sea to shining sea compete in one location and crown the new Angler of the Year and Rookie of the Year!

The final Trail and Challenge series championships will be held in conjunction with the TENvitational on October 19th and 20th  in Huntsville, Alabama with Lake Wheeler and Lake Guntersville both being in play.

The TEN anglers will be finalized after those events, and will the event will run that weekend on October 21st and 22nd.

Hobie Bass Open Series (Hobie BOS)

Anglers fishing in the Hobie BOS series have a Minor problem... he just won't quit having solid finishes. Currently Ewing Minor has the points lead for Angler of the Year with Jaxton Orr nipping at his heels with both anglers having phenomenal seasons. Nolan Minor is also right there in the hunt as well as Jody Queen and numerous other hammers with less than 40 points separating the top 5.

With two events left in the series at the Mississippi River on August 19th and Sam Rayburn  on September 23rd, there is still time for anglers to make a push for the title as well as qualify for the Tournament of Champions at Lake Chickamauga on November 8th

Bassmaster Kayak Series (BASS)

With one event left in the BASS series 2023 Bassmaster Kayak Championship winner Rus Snyders is sitting in the Angler of Year lead five points up on Nick Dyer with  2022 Bassmaster Kayak Championship winner Eric Sidiqi. With only one event left in 2023 at the Susquehanna River on October 7th and 8th anglers have a good chance to make a last minute run for the title!

The 2024 Bassmaster Kayak Championship will be held in Tulsa, Oklahoma on the week of the 2024 Bassmaster Classic.
